Upcoming Webinar: Advancing Intersex Depathologisation
For centuries, the existence of people with innate variations in sex characteristics has been defined as a medical issue. Moreover, those variations have been identified as pathologies in themselves, regardless of their real impact on health and wellbeing.
Intersex pathologization has played a key role in the promotion, perpetration, and justification of human rights violations against intersex people everywhere. Despite diverse mechanisms seeking to tackle pathologization, it keeps affecting our bodies and lives.
The ongoing process of depathologizing innate variations of sex characteristics also faces the challenge posed by a global wave of authoritarian movements, committed to pathologization as a social and political tool. Today, more than ever, it is urgent to mobilize our collective efforts to advance intersex depathologization in this burning world.
InterAction for Health and Human Rights invites you to join our webinar Advancing Intersex Depathologization, coordinated by Mauro Cabral Grinspan.
